I tried to use the 3-day sailing experience as a stepping stone to fulfill my leadership potential and also to grow closer to those students I didn't know as well. I stepped out of my comfort zone to ensure I made the most of every moment and tried to encourage others to do the same and enjoy their time on the trip too.
My most memorable moment in this experience was definitely my first night. We had finished eating and cleaning and our whole group was able to get to know each other and connect well. I quickly learned that everybody on the trip was a leader and that I was surrounded by a great group of young men. We were able to share moments of our lives with each other and it only helped us connect and grow closer to each other throughout the rest of the trip.
This leadership campaign will be a highlight of my last year of college and I would really recommend this to our younger men here at ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s College. I would also like to thank the great staff (Mr Taito & Mr Gabriel) for their guidance throughout the trip and to Mr McMurdoch and Mr Simento for this blessed opportunity.

The NZ Lion Boat Trip was an amazing opportunity that not many people are fortunate enough to experience. I was forced to step out of my comfort zone, lead others, but also have a lot of fun. It was awesome!
After a hard few years with lockdowns, it was just great getting back out into the outdoors and working together as a team. My most memorable moment was the sail back to Auckland. The wind was strong and pushy and the waves were huge which changed our ordinary sail back home into a risky adventure. I would definitely recommend this trip to others because I got to connect with my friends, enjoy the environment, and learn to sail and explore the ocean. It can be uncomfortable at times, but after the trip, I really wanted to go back!
