Mrs Lois Brough, Mr Glenn Stanbridge and Elijah Papalii (Year 8) represented ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s College at the Auckland Central Catholic Kahui Ako (ACCKA) Malaga Tautua in Samoa during the Term 2 holidays. The group was made up of 20 teachers/staff and family members and the malaga was supporting the work of the Samoan Victim Support Group (SVSG), specifically the Campus of Hope Children's Home. There were 84 children from newborn to 19 years of age living and studying at the campus during this time. These young people are victims of abuse, neglect or abandonment. The group delivered resources to several schools, as well as to the SVSG for their ongoing work. The group also found time to visit some wonderful local attractions, including attending the Safoto Catholic Church service in Savai'i. It was special for our group to experience a mass fully in the Samoan language.
ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s held a bake sale in June to raise money for this cause, and the $1500 (NZD) raised went toward a total of over $16,000 Tala ($9-10,000NZD) which was presented to SVSG by the ACCKA group.
Thank you to all students and families for your donations of food and money which will make a massive difference to these children.
Many special moments and memories, laughing and/or crying, were shared amongst the group. This is only the ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥ of a relationship of sharing and supporting the SVSG.
