The Big Sing
On Wednesday 19 June, the ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s College choir competed at The Big Sing with great passion and pride during both the competition sessions and the evening gala concert. It was a very long day, with our young men spending the best part of 11 hours inside the Auckland Town Hall, yet our young men performed to a very high standard and enjoyed watching many other school choirs who also performed. Thank you to our amazing parents who stepped in to supervise students at the last minute, and to our choir families for supporting your son/s, enabling them to be part of our brand new choir.
Thank you also to the parents who attended the choir open rehearsal last Friday evening, 14 June, in our school chapel. Our choir welcomed the young men of the One Tree Hill choir to be part of this open rehearsal, which provided a wonderful opportunity for both schools to perform in front of people they didn't know. The quality of both choirs was amazing and this set a high standard for our young men to aim for in the final lead up to The Big Sing. Thank you to Mr Terence Maskell and to our head chorister, Josiah Tupa'i, for all the hard work that has gone into making all of this happen.

I encourage any students who are interested in joining our choir to let me know, as it would be good to have a much larger choir represent our school next year at The Big Sing, as well as at school events.
Ponsonby Montessori Kindergarten Visit
A few of our young men recently visited Ponsonby Montessori Kindergarten to present and teach a Samoan song for the children to learn and present back at the next visit. Thank you to one of our school neighbours, Ms Meryl Main, for making this connection with our music department.
A reminder that all itinerant music lessons are happening weekly. Your son will be in a Google classroom for his instrument, where his timetable can be found, if he is unsure of when his lesson is. Also, there are many brass and woodwind instruments being left in the music room each week, which indicates that home practice is not being done. If you are not hearing your son practice, please ask him why.
