It was a pleasure for representatives of the college to attend the ordination of Fr Mark Bond. The Sacrament of Ordination sets people apart as Priests to have a special role in our community in the celebration of the Eucharist and for other Sacraments. Our faith is a Sacramental faith, so it was a privilege for students to witness this Sacrament which sustains the life of our church.
This week in the life of the church we celebrated the Feast Day of St Monica. A Saint who followed her son through many troubled times because she supported him and believed in him. St Monica believed that her son would find God and do great things despite the other ideas that he had. Through her devoted support and presence her son changed and went on to do great things for the church and eventually was canonised as St Augustine. St Monica was a true Marian model of enduring love and compassion that we can all relate to. Through the support of our young men, as they make their many choices through adolescence, we too should be uncompromising with love. When we do this then we show the love of God through Mary. This enables a loving example to become a part of their own transformations into the men God has created and called them to be.
