Term 3 has been a full term for the musicians of ɫֱ's College. From ɫֱ to finish, our young men have continued to step up in all aspects of their musical education. Our college choir has surpassed all expectations and continued to raise the bar in the quality of their performances. The college concert band represented us exceptionally at the KBB Festival, and our Cadenza fundraiser was next level! Some of our young men represented the college at Eden Park and at the Pacific Music Awards as part of a combined secondary schools choir and through all of these events, have kept up with their academic endeavours. Thank you to the families of our music boys for your patience, for all the hours of rehearsal and travel out of school time, and for all the amazing support you have given toward your son's musical journey.
Our senior band, 'First Impressions' wowed the audience at the SUSO finals in the Auckland Town Hall on the 14th of September. First Impressions were the favourite of many in the audience, yet when it comes down to it, the final say is with the judges. Being in the top 5 bands from around Auckland is a massive accomplishment, and these men can be immensely proud of their efforts. They worked incredibly hard, all having multiple music and sporting events happening around the same time, not to mention all their assessment deadlines. These young men were the winners in my eyes and I cannot express how proud I am of the way these band members have shown their personal values and integrity throughout the entire competition.
I hope your homes are filled with the sounds of your son/s practicing their music during the school holidays and I look forward to seeing what term 4 will bring for our busy little music department.
