It has been a rather full on year and one of huge success for the musicians of ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s College. I would like to thank all of the families of our musicians for the support given to your sons in their music journey. All the many rehearsals, performances, competitions and concerts have been well supported this year, raising the standards and also the profile of our school as a result. The sacrifices made by families this year have not gone unnoticed and are a huge part of why our young men have had so much success.
Choir, Band and First Impressionz will be performing at our end of year prizegiving, so please remind your son to make sure he is at the soundcheck on time if he is in one of these groups. All members of the Confortare choir, who will be performing at the TVNZ Christmas Show, please be at all holiday rehearsals on time and ready to sing. Check your emails if you are not sure of the times.
Along with school masses, many events, visits to kindergartens, neighbouring schools, and rest homes, our musicians have been involved in so many different events this year. The following are small highlights of 2024.
Confortare Choir
I commend our college choir, now known as 'Confortare' for stepping up and getting a gold award at Cadenza, as well as being featured on the TVNZ breakfast show. Making it to Cadenza with such a short lead up time was testament to the hard work and dedication put in. Thanks again to the parents who made the fundraising concert happen, making Cadenza a lot less expensive. A special thank you to our tour manager Becks Tupa'i for organising all of the finer details of Cadenza.
Please take time to watch TVNZ 1 on the morning of Friday 20 December for another live performance by our choir.
First Impressionz
Senior Band, First Impressionz entered Stand Up Stand Out and totally cleaned up, making a massive impression on the audience at the finals. A highlight of this journey was seeing Old Boys Viliami Tupa'i and Falakiko Sosefo giving back to the college, along with parent Nainz Tupa'i, who trained the band to reach new heights.
Concert Band
The school band performed at the KBB festival and have been working on a new style of repertoire for a slight change of direction for the new year. A massive thank you to our itinerant music teachers who train and inspire our musicians. Our instrumental music programme continues to be an integral part of raising the musical literacy of our college.
Pasifika Secondary School's Choir
Music students have been involved in the Pasifika Secondary School's Choir, performing at the Pacific Music Awards, as well as at several high profile rugby games at Mt Smart Stadium and Eden Park. Our young men continue to step out of their comfort zones to be in front of massive crowds, bringing an immense sense of pride in their college.
