Auckland Secondary School Athletics Championships
Congratulations to our athletes who qualified for the Auckland Secondary School Athletics Championships, which took place at Go Media stadium over two days. This event brings together the top athletes across all of Auckland competing in a range of track and field events.
The ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥’s College team consisted of Melino Tuamoheloa (Year 8), Lebron Loia, Israel McGlynn and Dylan-Bailey Tuputala (Year 9), Pio Lefai (Year 10), Joddellas Tuputala (Year 11), Tane Keereweer-Taia and Laverneus Nicholas-Pita (Year 12) and Ezekiel Davidson Fa’aiuaso and Justice Pua (Year 13).
Once again, ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥’s College proved its strength, delivering some outstanding performances against tough competition. Notable achievements included:
- Pio Lefai making the junior 200m final
- Justice Pua securing a top 10 finish in the senior long jump
- Team captain Tane Keereweer-Taia reaching the senior 100m and 200m finals

A special thank you to Rachael Keereweer for her support, as well as to the parents and families who came out to cheer on our young men.
Well done to all our competitors—your hard work and perseverance continue to make ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥’s College proud.
Cricket
As our 1st XI season wraps up, I'd like to express gratitude and a sincere Thank you to Ms Lloyd and Mr Blanch for scoring, coaching, umpiring and managing the 1st XI this season. This is a big commitment and we are very grateful for the support of ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s families such as this. Thank you also to Mr and Mrs Gabriel for hosting our students, supporters and visiting schools with BBQs and refreshments.
The 1st XI played in a very tough grade this year, against 1st XI's from other schools intent on qualifying for Premier Grade. This was a weekly challenge and I admire the courage of our young men to play against more experienced opponents with many years of coaching or playing behind them.
Mr McDermott

Waka Ama
Naea Williams (Year 10) recently represented ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s College at the Waka Ama National Secondary School event, held at Lake Tikitapu in Rotorua. Waka Ama has exploded in popularity with over 2000 students from 124 schools participating in the 5-day event. Naea made the semi-finals and represented ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s in another diverse sporting setting, furthering our reputation to 100+ schools from all over New Zealand, well done Naea!
Wrestling
Well done to Year 8 Martallis Vaihu, who competed at Auckland Secondary Schools' recent Wrestling Tournament, held at Dilworth College. Martallis won 2 of his 3 contests with wins coming over De La Salle and Dilworth.
Wrestling has recently been reinstated as a sanctioned sport in College Sport, a traditional sport with a rich history, including at ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s College. From all reports, Martallis is putting ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥'s name on the map in yet another code with his sportsmanship and competitiveness, finishing the tournament in first place! Congratulations Martallis, a name to remember!
