E kore e ngaro, he takere waka nui.
We will never be lost; We are the hull of a great canoe.

The name鈥疶akere鈥痳efers to the hull of a canoe.鈥疻ith a strong, sturdy takere the waka is ready for its journey and is designed to navigate the choppy seas.鈥疶he hull of a鈥痺aka鈥痠s also the place where our voyaging t墨puna stored the resources and鈥痶aonga鈥痚ssential for their journey as they moved across Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Pacific Ocean.
Just as the takere holds important cargo for a long journey, students will collect provisions through preparatory workshops and whakawhanaungatanga activities which will be accessible to them throughout their learning here at UC.
